Electric

Service Information

Electric hot water systems offer the widest variety in terms of storage tank sizing. From compact 25 litre tanks to 400 litre options, there is a solution to suit every household.

They heat the water via an element inside the tank during the selected electricity tariff period. The hot water is then stored and used as required throughout the home. For larger hot water systems, there is the option of dual element tanks to heat your water faster. As the heating occurs within the tank itself, there is no need for a flue; these systems can be installed either indoors or outdoors depending on the space available.

Benefits of Electric

Low install costs
Electric hot water systems are often a like-for-like replacement, minimising the amount of alterations required to existing pipework.
Low repair costs
The main components that fail are an element, thermostat or temperature and pressure relief valve that can all be replaced at a reasonable cost.
Fast installation
The majority of electric hot water installs are straightforward and can be carried out in under four hours.
Premium options available
Electric hot water systems are now available in stainless steel models that offer 12 year warranties on the tank.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take for my new hot water system to heat up?

Depending on the tariff and size of your heater, you may have hot water in as little as one hour. However, if you are on an off-peak tariff, the water will not heat until the following morning.

Do I need an electrician for new installations or repairs?

Not with Enviromate Plumbing! Our hot water technicians have the relevant restricted electrical qualifications to work on electric hot water systems. Be aware that not all plumbers will have this, so make sure you verify that your tradesman has the appropriate accreditations.

Do I need a tempering valve for a new hot water system?

Yes. There are new legislations in place that require any new hot water installation to have a tempering valve installed. This will regulate the temperature to a maximum of 50oC to protect against severe scalding.

Do you remove our old water tank?

In the majority of our installs, we will remove the old hot water heater as part of our standard service. The exception to this is if there is difficult site access that may require additional labour costs. The terms and costs will always be communicated to you in advance.

Are your quotes all inclusive?

Yes, with Enviromate Plumbing you can ensure there will be no hidden costs. Once we have inspected your hot water system, we will provide an accurate fixed quote. This will include any associated valves and ensure the system is installed to Australian Standards.

Testimonials
Enviromate plumbing came out and cleared my blocked drain, the service was very prompt and professional. They cleared my drain and then put the camera down to show me what the problem was and where. Every detail was explained to me and gave me a clear understanding of what may need to be done in the future. It was very refreshing to use a company with such professional understanding tradesmen.
